Asylum Law

Over the years, the Firm has focused on managing complex cases with significant geopolitical implications.

Our Firm regularly assists individuals from conflict zones (including Afghanistan, Sudan, Ukraine) and all other individuals victims of persecution in their countries of origin (Russia, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, DRC, Turkey, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba – non-exhaustive list).

The Firm assists asylum seekers at all stages of the procedure:

  • Asylum application at the border
  • Preparation of the asylum application file
  • Preparation for and assistance with the OFPRA interview (French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons)
  • Appeal before the National Asylum Court (CNDA)

 

A refugee is any person who, « owing to well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion, is outside the country of his nationality and is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to avail himself of the protection of that country; or who, not having a nationality and being outside the country of his former habitual residence as a result of such events, is unable or, owing to such fear, is unwilling to return to it.»

Art. 1st of the Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees of 28 July 1951

« Subsidiary protection shall be granted to any person who does not meet the conditions for recognition as a refugee and for whom there are serious and proven grounds for believing that they would face a real risk of suffering one of the following serious harms in their country:

  1. The death penalty or execution;
  2. Torture or inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment;
  3. In the case of a civilian, a serious and individual threat to their life or person due to violence that may extend to persons irrespective of their personal situation and resulting from a situation of internal or international armed conflict. »
